Consumer Health Data Privacy Policy
Last updated: 13 October 2026
This page is for people in Washington State (under the My Health My Data Act) and in other US states with similar laws, such as Nevada and Connecticut. It describes the consumer health data Platelight handles. Our full privacy policy covers everything else.
Categories of consumer health data
- Meals you log: photos, descriptions, the foods and amounts, and their calories and nutrients.
- Body measurements: weight, body fat, lean mass, height, and readings from scale photos or screenshots you add.
- Your goal and program: whether you want to lose, keep or gain weight, your pace, and your daily targets.
- Data you allow Platelight to read from Apple Health (height, weight, body fat, lean mass).
Where it comes from
You (what you type, photograph or say), your iPhone's camera, and Apple Health if you allow it.
What it's used for
To estimate what you ate, track your progress and adjust your daily targets. Nothing else: no advertising, no profiling, no selling.
Where it's kept
On your iPhone and, if you use iCloud sync, in your own iCloud account, which we can't access. We, the developer, never receive it, except as described below.
Sharing
We don't sell consumer health data, and we don't share it except:
- Platelight Plus, with your consent. If you subscribe to Plus and agree in the app, the meal you're logging (its photo, what you wrote, a correction, or a nutrition label) is sent through our server and OpenRouter to the cloud AI models named in the app (currently Google's Gemini 3.8 Flash and OpenAI's GPT-6 Luna on Microsoft Azure, with TypeSafe's Jev judging the estimate's certainty). They process it to answer and keep nothing. Our server keeps none of it. This consent is separate from installing or buying the app, and you can withdraw it at any time.
- Apple's Private Cloud Compute, with your consent, if you choose it in Settings › Meal analysis: Apple processes the request and keeps nothing.
If we ever want to collect another category of consumer health data, or use it for another purpose, we'll ask for your consent first.
Your rights
You can confirm whether we hold your consumer health data, access it, delete it and withdraw consent:
- Access and export: Settings › Export my data.
- Delete: Settings › Delete all data removes it from your iPhone, from iCloud and from our server.
- Withdraw consent: Settings › Meal analysis › On this iPhone.
- Anything else, or an appeal of a decision about a request: contact@platelight.app. We answer within 45 days. If we decline an appeal, you can contact your state's Attorney General.
Contact: Panagiotis Petridis (Ireland), contact@platelight.app.
